Chivas Brothers has created a new department for its technical functions.

The new structure, announced today (29 March), brings with it three appointments - David Hunter as technical director, Alan Mitchell as business quality manager and Shaun Bryson as business risk manager.

Hunter was previously technical director at Allied Domecq and now reports directly to Chivas chairman and CEO Christian Porta.

"I am delighted to join Chivas Brothers as director for its new technical department," Hunter said. "Chivas Brothers is renowned for its high standards of quality and health and safety and I will strive to build upon this yet further.

Mitchell will be responsible for the company's quality assurance, quality systems and laboratories. Bryson will manage occupational health, safety, environment, security, customs and excise and various insurance activities.
