CHILE: CCU full-year sales volumes on the rise

Compania Cervecerias Unidas (CCU) has seen volumes in 2007 rise on the year before.

The Chilean drinks company, which also operates in neighbouring Argentina, said yesterday (7 January) that full-year sales volumes registered a 6.1% rise on 2006, totalling 14.2m hectolitres.

While volume sales in Chile were up by 4.8% for the full-year, Argentinean sales leapt by 11.6% year-on-year, CCU said.

For the company's final quarter, sales volumes were up by 6.9% on the corresponding period a year earlier, to 4.5m hectolitres. Chilean sales were up by 6.5% in Q4, with Argentina delivering a sales lift of 8.1%, CCU noted.

CCU is the largest brewer in Chile, the second-largest Argentine brewer, the third-largest Chilean soft drink producer and the second-largest Chilean wine producer, as well as the largest Chilean mineral water producer. The company also has licensing and/or joint venture arrangements with Paulaner Brauerei , Anheuser-Busch, Heineken and PepsiCo.
