C&C Group has significantly expanded its UK cider portfolio by completing the acquisition of Gaymer Cider Co from Constellation Europe.
The Ireland-based Magners owner said today (15 January) that it has completed the GBP45m (US$75m) cash takeover, although the deal remains subject to an independent review by the Office of Fair Trading.
Gaymer will be held as a separate business pending a decision from the regulator, said C&C, which also today reported net sales down 7% for the first nine months of its fiscal year.
"Business conditions in the group's core cider markets remain challenging," it said, despite reporting a double digit volume rise in cider sales in the UK for December.
C&C hailed the Gaymer deal, announced in November, as transforming its UK cider business.
Sectors: Beer & cider
Companies: C&C Group, Constellation
