Carlsberg has secured a deal to make beer in Tibet, according to press reports. China Securities Journal has said that the Danish brewer is to form a 50-50 joint venture company with Tibet Galaxy Science Technology Development. The new company will be called Tibet Lhasa Brewery Ltd Co, the state-run organ said.

The newspaper added that the new company has registered capital of US$45.91m, with an annual production capacity of 150,000 tons.

Financial details of the move were not confirmed, although the deal is expected to be worth several million dollars.
