POLAND: Carlsberg Polska enters wine sector - report

By | 20 November 2007

Carlsberg Polska is preparing to enter the wine market in Poland this month, according to local reports.

Carlsberg Polska spokesman Eryk Klopotowski was cited in a report in Polish News Bulletin yesterday (19 November) as saying that the Carlsberg name would not be visible on the wine label and that the firm had specifically established a new company, named El Sol, so that the wine and Danish brewer were not directly linked.

"After thorough research, our company has decided to put five kinds of table wine on the market under the name El Sol," Klopotowski said. "There are many wines on the market, but few are strongly recognisable and this is a chance for us."

The wine, which was chosen for the Polish market, will reportedly be bolstered by strong marketing support.

No one was immediately available for comment at Carlsberg Polska when contacted by just-drinks today.
