UK: Carlsberg introduces wine range in UK
Carlsberg has lined up a range of wines exclusively for the UK on-trade.
The company said today (28 June) that it will launch 15 new wines to on-trade customers across the country under the brand name Invenio.
The 'Invenio' brand, "fully endorsed" by Master of Wine Jonathan Pedley, incorporates wines from California, Chile, South Africa, France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Australia.
Carlsberg UK wine buyer Louise Boddington said: "Invenio offers outstanding and reasonably priced wine from around the world. This offers our trade customers the opportunity to retail a range of Old and New World styles at outstanding value for money for their customers under an on-trade exclusive label."
Earlier this month, Carlsberg hit the headlines in the UK when press speculation claimed it was considering closing one of its two brewing facilities in the country, in Leeds. A spokesperson for the company played down the reports, telling just-drinks: "There are still a lot of conversations to be had. We plan to hold further discussions with the (Leeds City) Council in the next two to three weeks."
