POLAND: Carlsberg aims for share growth – report

Carlsberg Polska is targeting increased market share this year, according to local reports.

Citing company president Marcin Pirog, the Polish News Digest said that the Polish unit of Carlsberg would invest heavily in the country in 2006, although no precise details were revealed.

Last year, Carlsberg Polska ranked third in the domestic market, with 14.3%, behind Kompania Piwowarska and Grupa Zywiec. The brewer is hoping to achieve market share of 20% by 2010, the news agency noted.

In 2005, Carlsberg Polska sold 4.3m hectolitres of beer, a 7% rise on the previous year.
