California's wine industry is getting a local promotional push for all of next month.

In May, the state's governor, Arnold Schwarzenegger, designated September as California Wine Month. California's 2,000 wineries and 5,000 winegrape growers are now gearing up for special events throughout next month.

Among the activities planned for September are outdoor concerts, wine festivals, food and wine pairings and complimentary wine tastings.

Full details of what is scheduled have been made available at www.californiawinemonth.com, while a supplement was included in yesterday's (23 August) San Francisco Chronicle.

This is the second year that California's wine industry has been awarded an official month.
