US: Brown-Forman ups director count

Brown-Forman has added to its board of directors.

The US wine and spirits group said yesterday (30 January) that William Mitchell has been elected to the board.

Mitchell is chairman, president and CEO of electronics distributor Arrow Electronics. Prior to this, he served as president of circuit board maker Solectron, and as president and CEO of Nashua Corp.

Mitchell's election brings the number of directors at Brown-Forman to 14.

Earlier this month, Brown-Forman finally closed its purchase of Mexican Tequila company Casa Herradura.

Brown-Forman said two weeks ago that the transaction would come in US$100m lower than expected "by mutual agreement of the parties".
