The US wines and spirits producer Brown Forman has unveiled plans for a low-carb wine, as the carb counting diets continue to influence producers from snack foods to vodka.

The two wines, which will be on sale from around the end of May, will be called One.6 Chardonnay and One.9 Merlot

The low-carb brands have the same alcohol content as normal wines.

Brown-Forman believes it will be the first producer to get a low carb wine brand onto the market.

"Because of the branding efforts and because of the quality of the wine, we think we have a chance to really own this space," Andrew M. Varga, vice president and global brand director of Brown-Forman Wines was quoted saying today.
