Woodford Reserve sales are growing

Brown-Forman is to spend US$35m expanding its Woodford Reserve distillery to meet increasing global demand for Bourbon.

The expansion at the Kentucky site will include three new warehouses with a 165,000-barrel capacity and an extended bottling line, the company said yesterday (27 June). “We believe strong consumer interest in Bourbon will continue and we’re expanding our production capacity in an effort to meet this demand,” Woodford Reserve master distiller Chris Morris said.

In fiscal-2013,Woodford Reserve posted global volumes of 250,000 nine-litre cases and increased net sales by 28%, Brown-Forman said.

In February, Beam Inc abandoned plans to lower the abv of Bourbon brand Maker's Mark after a consumer-led protest. The company had said a lower alcohol content would help it meet a spike in global demand.
