The Bowmore 1964 Trilogy, featuring Black, White and Gold varieties of Bowmore single malt Scotch whisky, has sold for US$21,600 at a US auction.
The price was above the $18,000 asking price, according to Christie's, the auction house that organised the sale in New York last week.
Charles Curtis, head of North American wine sales at Christie's, said: "This result demonstrates the strength of the nascent market for collectible spirits."
The auction "excited interest worldwide and was keenly pursued by potential buyers", he added.
Mike Keiller, CEO of Morrison Bowmore Distillers, welcomed the auction result and said the group "looks forward to continuing this success with future exclusive Bowmore editions".
Morrison Bowmore, which is owned by Japan's Suntory Holdings, released Bowmore Gold at GBP3,000 (US$4,927) per bottle in September this year.
