Duvel has taken control of the Kansas-based craft brewer

Boulevard Brewing Company has confirmed that its CEO has resigned from the company 15 months after he took the role.

Mike Magoulas left the Kansas City-based craft brewer on December 31, a company spokesperson told just-drinks today (21 January). Boulevard has recently changed hands, with Belgium brewer Duvel Moortgat taking majority control, following a deal announced last October

Asked whether Magoulas left of his own accord, the spokesperson said: “Correct”.

An announcement on a replacement CEO is expected “in the coming days”, the Boulevard representative said.

Magoulas, who has spent around 40 years in the drinks industry including stints with Miller Brewing Company and E&J Gallo, has taken up the CEO role at his own Missouri-based firm Component Packaging.

Last week Duvel said it was planning to launch some of Boulevard's beers in Europe later this year
