UK: Blavod Extreme Spirits upbeat on FY after Q3 sales lift
By just-drinks.com editorial team | 13 January 2009
Blavod Extreme Spirits has posted a strong rise in sales volumes for its third quarter.
The UK-based company, which owns Blavod Black vodka and the intellectual property rights for the Blackwood's gin and vodka brands, said today (13 January) that volumes in the three months to the end of December increased by 32% on the corresponding period a year earlier.
While sales in the UK in the period were "particularly strong", Blavod noted that export business was weaker, held back by a "deterioration" in the travel retail trading environment, and the "application of a stringent credit policy" in the current financial environment.
Blavod concluded that it expects a "satisfactory" fourth quarter.
Late last year, the company said that operating profit for the six months to the end of September came in at GBP53,000 (US$79,873), a turnaround from an operating loss in the corresponding period a year ago of GBP83,000. The performance came on the back of a 36% increase in sales, which totalled GBP2.5m.
