UK: Blavod ends takeover talks
By just-drinks.com editorial team | 12 March 2007
Blavod Extreme Spirits has ended its potential takeover talks with an unnamed suitor.
Discussions between the UK-based spirits producer and the mystery entity were first announced in November. At the time, Blavod said it had received a letter of intent from "an unnamed, Nasdaq-listed company".
Today (12 March), however, Blavod said it had stopped the talks after the suitor failed to provide enough due diligence on itself to Blavod's satisfaction.
"The company will make a further announcement about developing business in due course," Blavod said.
Blavod owns a stable of brands including the eponymous black vodka, Players Extreme flavoured vodka and El Diamante del Cielo Tequila.
The company also distributes a slew of products on both sides of the Atlantic, including Cockspur rum in the UK and Italian wine Baroncini in the US.
