Exclusive - US: Bevyz home carbonation system to hit US in May
Bevyz, which has a partnership with PepsiCo, will launch its home carbonation unit in the US
Bevyz has confirmed to just-drinks that its Fresh Machine home carbonation unit will launch in the US in May.
The Malta-headquartered, privately-owned company, which has partnered with PepsiCo, is set to showcase the machine at the International Home & Housewares Show in Chicago this weekend, a spokesperson for Bevyz told just-drinks late yesterday (10 March). PepsiCo also confirmed yesterday that it has set up an unspecified partnership with Bevyz for the unit.
The Bevyz Fresh Machine, which produces tea and coffee, as well as cooled water, soft drinks and juices, will roll out nationally in the US in May. The spokesperson declined to give pricing details, saying only that it would be “competitively positioned”.
Among the other partners that Bevyz has secured are Del Monte and Hero. Green Mountain Coffee Roasters, which is set to launch its own home-carbonation unit later this year with The Coca-Cola Co, is also a partner.
“There are still quite a few very big partners that have not yet been mentioned,” Ariel Sterngold, director of business development at Bevyz, told just-drinks yesterday. “These details will be released quite soon.” Although he declined to give specific details, Sterngold said that these included “some of the biggest players in the industry”.
“Our first job will be to educate the consumer,” Sterngold said. “This machine can produce coffee, tea and hot chocolate as well as energy drinks, carbonated soft drinks and juices. We believe in building a strong foundation and that will be through educating the consumer.”
When asked which branded drinks will be available for the Fresh Machine, Sterngold would not specify, although the Bevyz website lists Pepsi and 7-Up.
Distribution in the US will be handled by Cuisinart.
