UK: Beverage Brands 'warms up' WKD ad for UK TVs

By | 1 December 2008

Beverage Brands is set to extend its latest advertising push for the WKD RTD brand on to televisions in the UK.

The UK-based company said late last week that 'Warm Up', which will "further strengthen WKD's associations with grass-roots football", will run for the next six weeks across terrestrial and satellite stations.

The football-themed advert initially hit cinema screens in the country in the summer.

The execution consists of a 30-second advert, which will be shown in rotation with the brand's 'Man Flu' ad, with both ads set to to be aired on Channel 4, Five and satellite stations in what will be WKD's fourth burst of national TV advertising this year.

"WKD has one of the highest TV ad spends by an alcohol brand and has the highest recall of any alcohol brand on TV," said Karen Salters, marketing director for WKD at Beverage Brands. "These two ads are ones that our target audience can really relate to, and research tells us that WKD ads continue to amuse viewers even after multiple viewings."

To further promote the brand, around 45,000 WKD Christmas point-of-sale kits will be distributed to the trade over the same period.
