USA: BevAccess.com Names Kneale Ashwell as CEO BevAccess International

By | 25 July 2000

BevAccess.com announces today that Kneale Ashwell, former Chairman of Seagram Distillers in the UK, has joined the company as CEO of its new international business, BevAccess International. The announcement of Ashwell's appointment is pivotal for BevAccess.com as the company builds its international presence. Based in Europe, Ashwell will begin immediately on the overall business and systems development of BevAccess International, ultimately building on and leveraging the existing success of the current U.S.-based BevAccess.com.

"I am very interested in business-to-business e-commerce and the manner in which it is influencing the way business is done. BevAccess.com has already been generating considerable excitement in the international community", says Ashwell, "and I will now be able to apply 30 years of international experience to launching the company's global effort. To be asked to do so in the midst of the high-tech/new economy boom now taking place in Europe and elsewhere, is both very exciting and a great challenge that I look forward to."

"Kneale comes to BevAccess International with an incredible knowledge base, skill set and experience that gives the company an immediate edge. We are very pleased to have Kneale carry out the founding vision of BevAccess.com as the solution to streamlining the beverage alcohol industry," comments Derek Bromley, Founder and co-CEO of BevAccess.com.

"Kneale is the ideal person. His entire career has been built on the restructuring, managing and expanding of businesses in the European and Asia Pacific regions. We have enormous confidence in knowing what Kneale can help us achieve on an international level -- a global Industry Exchange for the trade," adds Greg Ahnert, Founder and co-CEO of BevAccess.com.

Ashwell's management career spans more than 30 years, during which he has held senior positions at some of the world's best-known consumer goods companies. His experience in brand management, sales and marketing began at J. Lyons and Spillers, two leading consumer companies in the UK. In 1969, he moved to Japan where he was responsible for the marketing of several leading spirits brands, including Gordon's Gin, Campari, Cointreau, and Remy Martin. Four years later, he became President of Revlon Japan, which at the time was the company's largest subsidiary outside the U.S. From 1976 until 1991, Ashwell worked for Johnson & Johnson International where he served in a number of senior management roles centered in Japan, where he lived for 20 years, and the Philippines, Australia and New Zealand.

Until June, Ashwell was Chairman of Seagram Distillers plc. Other management positions previously held by him include President of Seagram's Chivas Brothers Ltd, Managing Director of Johnson & Johnson UK Ltd, CEO of Waterford Wedgwood UK plc, and Chairman of Wedgwood Group.
