Beer production in Russia has risen 6.1% so far this year, according to the Russian Brewers Union.

According to reports, 822.6m decalitres of beer were produced between January and November, which is an increase of 6.1% on the previous year. During the same period in 2004, there was 779m decalitres produced, which itself was an increase of 12% on the previous year.

"The growth in production is primarily connected with companies' effective marketing strategies, the introduction of new brands to the market and reformations in the distribution system, which all allows for a forecast of 5%-7% in production growth," the union told local press.
