GERMANY: Beck's brewery drank dry in heatwave - report

By | 2 August 2006

InBev's flagship German brewer Beck's is unsure whether it will meet orders for beer this month due to the heatwave in Europe, according to local press reports.

The hot weather throughout July has seen beer consumption soar in much of northern Europe and last month Beck's could not meet the demand for bottled beer, according to the Deutsche Presse-Agentur agency yesterday (1 August).

An InBev spokesman told the agency that it could not forecast when production could get back on track but that the brewer would "possibly" manage it this month.

Officials at Beck's site in Bremen and InBev's global HQ in the Belgian town of Leuven could not be reached for comment as just-drinks went to press.
