US: Beam Global Sauza distillery gets CSR certificate

The Sauza Tequila distillery in Mexico, owned by Beam Global Spirits & Wine, has receieved a certificate in recognition of its social responsibility commitments.
The certificate, known as an ESR, or Empresa Socialmente Responsible, was awarded last month by the Mexican Philanthropy Center and The Social Responsibility Alliance, Beam Global said yesterday (29 April).
Sauza projects include donating money for education facilities in poor communities and the launch of a wastewater treatment plant at its distillery last month.
Servando Calderón, director of general operations for Sauza Tequila, said: "It is important to us to improve the communities in which we live and work while improving our employees' quality of life."
Beam Global is the wine and spirits arm of Fortune Brands and also owns Jim Beam and Maker's Mark Bourbon, Courvoisier Cognac and Laphroaig Scotch whisky.
