To celebrate its 150 Anniversary year, iconic Italian brand MARTINI, makers of the world’s leading vermouth and favourite Italian sparkling wine, introduce a new, limited edition – MARTINI Gran Lusso (meaning grand luxury in Italian).

As MARTINI celebrates its landmark 150th anniversary, a single-batch of Gran Lusso vermouth has been in the making for more than eight years and is limited to 150,000 bottles worldwide. Gran Lusso has been expertly handcrafted and will allow bartenders to breathe new life into some of the finest vintage cocktails.

Gran Lusso is a testament to the exceptional skill of MARTINI Master Herbalist Ivano Tonutti and Master Blender Giuseppe Musso.

The MARTINI artisans used Barbera red wine from the Piedmont region of Northern Italy and Trebbiano white wine from neighboring Emilia-Romagna.

Gran Lusso combines two unique extracts. The first was inspired by an historical Vermouth recipe. This new extract was made with Moscato must from Canelli Italy, which had previously been aged for one year in wood barrels. The second is our great secret. The recreation of a 1904 recipe, known only as “extract 94”, it is the first botanical extract to rest in small demijohns for 8 years. A single batch was created to be the heart of this sublime liquid.

The aromatically herbal and cleansing bitter notes fill the mouth with a distinct complexity. The honey softness of the aged Moscato provides a sweet taste. With hints of lavender and rose, the softness of the Barbera grape provides a unique smoothness to the drink.

MARTINI Gran Lusso is available internationally from July from premium outlets at a recommended price of EUR25.

Ivano Tonutti, MARTINI Master Herbalist, says of MARTINI Gran Lusso: “We have really enjoyed hand-selecting the botanicals for Gran Lusso and experimenting with new techniques to create one-off extracts. Gran Lusso has a very unique taste and flavour and we are all very proud of the finished product. It makes me proud as an Italian to work on the iconic brand of MARTINI, particularly as we celebrate the 150 Anniversary. It has been a joy to create Gran Lusso, to be a part of creating something uniquely Italian and for such a special occasion.”

Giuseppe Musso, MARTINI Master Blender, adds of MARTINI Gran Lusso: “For me, Gran Lusso represents the very best of Italy. We have blended together two of Italy’s most known grape varieties – Trebbiano and Barbera and the result is completely new and unique. It is a very proud moment for everyone involved at Pessione and the best way to celebrate our 150 Anniversary. It is truly a limited edition to mark this special anniversary and cannot be replicated.”
