Michael Dolan will assume the CEO role at Bacardi with immediate effect

Bacardi has lined up an interim CEO as the company continues to search for a permanent replacement.

The company, which announced the retirement of Ed Shirley last month, said today (15 May) that Michael Dolan will assume the CEO position. Shirley, who was both president & CEO of Bacardi, had been in the roles for two years.

Dolan, who has been on Bacardi's board since 2009, will take on the role with immediate effect. Most recently, he was chairman & CEO of global sports, fashion and media company IMG Worldwide, which he joined as VP & CFO in 2010.

“We are fortunate to have Mike take on CEO duties,” said company chairman Facundo Bacardi. “He … knows our company very well as a result of his service on our board.”

Bacardi is continuing its search for a permanent replacement for Shirley, with both internal and external candidates considered.
