A-B InBev said it is "delighted" to have found a solution

Anheuser-Busch InBev and Belleville Brewing Company have settled a legal dispute that will allow the London microbrewer to continue using its name to sell its beers.

Lawyers acting for A-B InBev sent a cease-and-desist letter to Belleville in May over concerns the microbrewer's brands would be confused with its Belgian fruit-flavoured beer Belle-Vue. However, the move attracted controversy in the UK national media

But Belleville confirmed today (10 July) that it has reached an agreeement with A-B InBev, meaning it can continue to use the Belleville name to "sell and market its beers". The London company has, however, withdrawn its trademark application for the brand, it said.

A company spokesperson said it is "delighted" it can keep the name. "The Belleville Brewing Company brand is very important to us, with its connections to our origins and the local community," the spokesperson added.

An A-B InBev spokesperson said: "We have always been committed to finding a solution that enables the Belleville Brewing Company to continue to sell and market their beers, without diluting our trademark rights.

"We are delighted to have found that solution and wish them well for the future."
