A-B InBev is brewing Budweiser at the new site

Anheuser-Busch InBev has officially opened its first Vietnam brewery.

The plant, in Binh Duong province close to Ho Chi Minh City, has been operational since Q1 but was inaugurated in a ceremony last week, A-B InBev said. The company said it held back the official opening "to ensure all production stages had been checked and validated".

The brewery was due to open in February.

A-B InBev said the new site has an annual production capacity of 500,000 hectolitres a year, with the potential for expansion to 1m hectolitres. It will produce Budweiser and Beck’s beer.

Company CEO Carlos Brito highlighted the brewery after the release of Q1 results this month. He said A-B InBev is "learning from our experience in China" as it looks to grow Budweiser in Vietnam.
