RUSSIA: Anadolu Efes appoints Russia chief
By Chris Mercer | 28 October 2011
Anadolu Efes has appointed a new general manager in Russia as the brewer prepares to absorb SABMiller's business in the country.
Tugrul Agirbas will hold the position from 1 November, Anadolu Efes said yesterday (27 October). He will replace Yüksel Gökbulut, who will move to become MD of the brewer's Eastern Europe and CIS business.
The switch follows Efes' announcement that it will swallow SABMiller's Russian business, in return for handing the Peroni Nastro Azzurro brewer a 24% stake in the Anadolu Efes global business. Once combined, SABMiller and Efes will overtake Anheuser-Busch InBev to be Russia's second biggest brewer in volume and value, behind Carlsberg's Baltika Breweries.
Agirbas was most recently general manager for the Efes business in Turkey. He will be succeeded in that role by Altug Aksoy, Anadolu Efes' supply chain director.
Separately, the group said that Mustafa Susam will become finance director for Efes Turkey. He was previously Anadolu Efes' tax director. He succeeds Volkan Harmandar, who will become finance coordinator of the finance presidency at Anadolu Endustri Holding.
