BRAZIL: AmBev and Interbrew tie-up rumoured
AmBev shares soared last week as reports suggested the company is in talks with Interbrew. Jornal do Brasil made a brief comment in its economic gossip column alluding to talks between AmBev and Interbrew about a tie-up between the two.
Ordinary shares in the Brazilian brewer leapt by 5.69% to 687.00 reals (US$241.90) off a high of 700.00 reals, while its preferred shares rose by 3.95% to 763.00 reals off a high of 772.60 reals.
