Altamar Brands is to release a Tequila Ocho 2009 vintage in the US in time for the Mexican holiday Cinco de Mayo.
The Plata and Reposado varieties from Las Pomez are available now, while a 2009 vintage of Añejo from El Carrizal, which is aged for a full year, will be released in July, the company said today (1 April).
"Agave is rich and complex. It imparts vastly different flavours when harvested from different microclimates at different altitudes," said WL Lyons Brown, CEO of Altamar. "Ocho will demonstrate there is "terroir" in agave."
Tequila Ocho is the product of collaboration between third generation Tequilero Felipe Camarena and Tomas Estes, Ambassador of Tequila to Europe, and was launched in August 2008 in California.
Tequila Ocho 2009 Vintage from Las Pomez will be available in several US states, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York , Miami, Boston, Chicago, Dallas and Houston.
It is currently available in Plata and Reposado and will be sold at US$60 and $70 per 750ml bottle respectively. Añejo will be available in July 2009 and will retail for $80.
