Dutch hypermarket chain Ahold is considering selling its 50% stake in Spanish winery Williams & Humbert to peer Jose Medina y Cia as it continues to divest assets to exit the Spanish market, local newswire Europa Press reported.

Ahold and Jose Medina are in advanced talks about the sale, the newswire said.

Jerez de la Frontera, Spain-based Williams & Humbert makes the Gran Duque de Alba, 1977, Canasta and Dry Sack brandies, as well as the Estero white wine and Dos Maderas Rum.

Smaller winery Jose Median y Cia has reportedly procured an undisclosed loan to finance the purchase.
