US: AB steps back from advert controversy line
Anheuser-Busch is looking to tone down its beer commercials amid accusations of bad taste. The brewer, which is known for using sexual humour in its adverts, intends to step back from controversy following the furore surrounding this year's Super Bowl.
After the uproar in the US caused by Janet Jackson, accusations have been made about indecency in the media.
Speaking to advertising agency executives in Miami this week, AB president August Busch IV said: "We are taking a more cautious approach to our creative (advertising) … to understand what the country is feeling right now."
AB garnered a lot of attention for its adverts during this year's Super Bowl coverage, including scenes of a dog biting a person's crotch and a flatulent horse.
