The leading brewer in the US, Anheuser-Busch, spent over US$293m on sports advertising last year, according to a report in the St Louis Business Journal.

The figure placed the company amongst the top 100 sports advertisers in the US in 2004.

The Journal said the figure was high because of Olympic-related activities.

Miller Brewing Co spent some US$131.8m the report said.  Coors Brewing Co spent US$82.25m.
