Uganda Food and Drink Report Q2 2013
Report description
Our Africa team believes that private consumption in Uganda will grow strongly in 2013. Price growth (which averaged 14.6% in 2012) is now in the single digits, and we project it to remain there throughout the year, boosting purchasing power. Over the coming years, Uganda's rapidly expanding population, with millions of young Ugandans entering the workforce, will further bolster private consumption as the consumer market expands and the productive capacity of the economy increases.
We are believe that GDP per capita will increase from an estimated US$669 in 2012 to US$1,309 in 2017, suggesting greater household wealth and increased disposable income with which to purchase consumer goods.
