The IWSR Spirits in the United States Report
Report description
The financial crisis gave rise to three main trends in the US drinks market: a switch from the on-premise to the off, more price promotions, and downtrading across price points. 2010 saw the tide turn, with signs of pre-recession trends beginning to return.
Overall spirits consumption did not decline during the recession and consumption grew 2% in 2010.
The US remains comfortably the largest premium market, and although China is growing faster, the US remains the critical market for premium Western-style spirits. It is also a premium market in growth. The market rose in line with the past five-year CAGR, growing by 4% to 47.3m nine-litre cases in 2010. This represents an increase of 1.8m cases.
Discover how the growth trends in the US are developing and which are the fastest-growing brands and category, as well as The IWSR’s forecasted expectations for 2011.
The IWSR Spirits in the United States Report includes a summary of total alcohol consumption split by category to give an overview of the structure of the market.
The spirits data is broken down by category, by local versus imported, by quality and by brand. The report also includes on- and off-trade splits, distributor information, 2011 category forecasts and pricing information taken from in-country store checks.
This report is extracted from The IWSR Domestic Volume Database 2011.
