The IWSR Forecast Report 2012-2017 forecasts the global alcohol market by country, category and price quality. It forecasts the markets for wines, spirits, mixed drinks, beer and cider in detail in 60 major countries and straight-lines the remaining countries, giving both numbers and the reasoning and explanation behind those forecasts. The straight-line forecasts are then modified by the IWSR analysts.

The IWSR visits 115 countries each year to interview almost 1,500 local companies to compile its annual database, the industry’s source of volume data. No forecast can ever be 100% accurate but the unique IWSR approach has proven to be reliable. In building the 2012 forecasts last year, the IWSR forecast for still light wine at a global level was out by just 0.1% and just 0.8% too low for all whisky largely due to higher than anticipated growth for Indian Whisky. The worst global forecast was for national spirits which did better much better than originally anticipated due to much stronger growth in the of Chinese spirits in China.
