Report description
The IWSR Forecast Report 2012-2017 - Global Summary analyses current and future global trends for all wine and spirits categories, RTDs and beer in the key regions and includes regional overviews (Europe, CIS, Asia, Australasia, North America and Latin America) by category and quality. Each section includes data tables, charts and graphs, as well as a written summary with insight into the key trends. The report also includes category overviews analysed by region, leading markets, sub-categories and quality (super-premium, premium, standard and value).
The IWSR Forecast Report 2012-2017 forecasts the global alcohol market by country, category and price quality. It forecasts the markets for wines, spirits, mixed drinks, beer and cider in detail in 60 major countries and straight-lines the remaining countries, giving both numbers and the reasoning and explanation behind those forecasts. The straight-line forecasts are then modified by the IWSR analysts.
The IWSR visits 115 countries each year to interview almost 1,500 local companies to compile its annual database, the industry’s source of volume data. During the course of these interviews, the future of the market is discussed both in the short-term and long-term. These views and the IWSR analyst’s own individual knowledge of the local market are the basis for the forecasts, combined with an analysis of both the likely demographics and the most probable economic outlook over the forecast period.
No forecast can ever be 100% accurate but the unique IWSR approach has proven to be reliable. In building the 2012 forecasts last year, the IWSR forecast for still light wine at a global level was out by just 0.1% and just 0.8% too low for all whisky largely due to higher than anticipated growth for Indian Whisky. The worst global forecast was for national spirits which did better much better than originally anticipated due to much stronger growth in the of Chinese spirits in China.
The IWSR Forecast Report 2012-2017 will give users a very good guide by category and by price point what the future five years will hold for the alcohol market. It points up the marked shift in regions and highlights the fastest growing international opportunities.
