The beverages segment recorded the highest growth in deal value, from US$90 million in June to US$5.6 billion in July, compared to most of the other segments. Many beverage companies resorted to debt offerings by issuing bonds to raise capital or announced such plans during the month.
Deal activities in Asia Pacific witnessed renewed interest during July as CPG manufacturers announced or completed deals, especially in the food segment. While the US remains the top country in terms of deal activity, a significant increase was noticed in Australia, Malaysia, Turkey and Singapore overtaking the other Asian fast growing economies of China and India.
The deal value of debt offerings registered a significant month on month increase with US$20,962.9 million worth of deals in July compared to US$6979.9 million in June. Additionally, six large debt offerings with a deal value equal to or above US$1,000.0 million were recorded in the month.
