Belgium Wine Market Landscapes Report
Report description
France is the number 1 source country, with a 60% market share of wine consumption in 2009; Italy and Spain complete the top 3; The Belgian off trade is, like in many other countries, dominated by the hyper- and supermarkets (a market share of 75%); Supermarkets (e.g. Delhaize, Colruyt) have a large offer of own brands (in the case of Delhaize, bottled at its Brussels’ facilities); Because of the broad range of supermarkets’ own brands, international wine brands are relatively underrepresented in the Belgian market (less than a 5% market share) compared to other markets; Belgian wine consumer typically spends around €4.00 on a bottle of wine.
