Canada’s Double D Beverage Co is to launch its Bulldog Buzz branded energy drinks range across the UK trade-wide in May 2008.
The Bulldog range consists of two variants, Citrus and Berry, although according to the company, once distribution has been established, other variants will be added. With a prominently Chuchillian feel, Bull Dog Buzz is targeted at a primarily male and patriotic audience, aged between 16 and 40. The range consists of an abundance of healthy ingredients to, as the company states, “provide an energy boost that clearly beats the rest!” Amongst the ingredients list are taurine, guarana seed extract, Siberian ginseng root extract, beta carotene and vitamins A, B2, B6, B12, and E.
The British Columbia-based company is well-established in its home market as the manufacturer of Beaver Buzz energy drinks. According to President & CEO Richard DeBanks, the firm has adopted a global strategy with a regional approach in its expansion activities into the Quebec and now the UK markets. This approach has meant the use of a consistent blend but the rebranding of its product for each market.
Following a limited launch through Morrisons supermarket chain since December 2007, the full-range, national launch will take place on 15 May in partnership with Jenks Sales Brokers.
Bull Dog Buzz is packaged in 355ml cans, retailing for £0.99 apiece. The launch is being backed by merchandising, price promotions, point-of-sale advertising and involvement in community sports such as rugby, Bulldog Buzz is now the official beverage of Rugby League’s Batley Bulldogs.
