Here’s your last call, ladies and gentlemen. On Thursday (21 March) at 1500 GMT, just-drinks will host its latest webinar, which will consider the results of this year’s confidence survey. The hour-long webinar, which also features four of our regular expert commentators, is free, so head over here to register for attendance.
Meanwhile, on just-drinks last week:
- The soft drinks category let out a muted cheer early in the week, when a court in New York blocked the city’s proposed ban on high-sugar soft drinks bigger than 16oz. As the sector breathed a sigh of relief, and health campaigners nashed their teeth, deputy editor James Wilmore suggested that the current impasse allows the soft drinks sector the opportunity to grasp the nettle and move decisively in the on-going obesity row.
- Three just-drinks exclusives rocked the spirits category last week. First up, Diageo countered claims that it was not paying its way tax-wise in the UK. Then SPI Group told us that it is lining up a group bid for embattled Central European Distribution Corp. Finally, Bacardi told us of its plans to launch a Scotch whisky infused (don’t say flavoured) with honey.
-
The brewers amongst you should head over here for our interview with the head of Heineken’s operations in Ethiopia, Johan Doyer. With Africa set to be the next beer battlefield, Heineken is hoping to lead the way in the continent, despite SABMiller’s first-entrant advantage.
- In wine, the exhibition season is almost upon us. Next week, we’ll be in Dusseldorf for ProWein 2013. If you’re exhibiting at the event, email us at news@just-drinks.com and we’ll swing by to say hello.
