Well, what a week that was. Our annual hike around the halls of ExCel at the London International Wine Fair last week resulted in swathes of coverage on just-drinks. Thanks to all who attended the fair and welcomed us on to their stands. We look forward to seeing you next year, if not sooner.

While our editorial team were racing around, I was front of house on Wednesday afternoon for just-drinks' presentation of our UK wine survey at the trade fair. Thanks to those who attended – we were thrilled with the turnout - and also to those who listened in online. If you missed our inaugural webinar, you can relive the seminar at leisure here.

This week, I will be switching my attention from wine to spirits, in particular, Scotch whisky. I'm off to Scotland tomorrow for a 'capital investments' presentation from Pernod Ricard. As well as the fourth estate, the analyst community will also be there in force. In preparation last week, one analyst set the scene by suggesting that Pernod has not been able to boast the sort of growth in Scotch that Diageo has done in recent years.

Rest assured, this and other contentious bones will be discussed by Pernod's top brass this week. So, if you have any questions for them, drop me a line.

When I get back from Scotland on Thursday, I can look forward to a four-day weekend as we here in the UK celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. Her Majesty's 60th anniversary as monarch is a marketing opportunity that has been well milked in the last few weeks here in the UK. Last week, Ian Buxton decided to start a list; then, he got very, very tired.

just-drinks will be closed on Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 June. It will probably rain.

Until next time...

Comment - The LIWF 2012: A Post-Mortem

As the third and final day of the trade fair draws to a close and my footsteps fall heavier in the aisles of ExCel, it's time to assess what it's all been for. The visitor numbers look like coming in at about the same level as last year, give or take 100 or so.
