It's London International Wine Fair week and we're getting everything in place for our seminar on Wednesday.
If you're at the fair this week, then come along to our presentation on Wednesday at 1615, when myself and an expert panel will look at the results of our annual survey of the wine market in the UK. Click here to book your seat and, if you can't make it to the exhibition, head over here to follow our seminar live online in just-drinks' inaugural webinar.
Last week felt like the calm before the storm, affording us the time to iron our shirts and polish our shoes ahead of the wine fair. The same can be said for Belvedere Group, which, after posting a slight lift in Q1 sales must be spying the gathering clouds. The French company's debts don't seem to be going anywhere, so D-Day – D for Divestment – is coming, I fear.
Also of note last week was the slightly peculiar product launch announcement from Pernod Ricard, for a product that has no launch date yet. The unveiling of Havanista rum for the US last week may be more a case of Pernod lining up its ducks for US rum consumers, but there's still a sizeable hurdle to clear before Americans can try a Havanista Mojito at home.
Until next time...
