You may have seen already, but we started up our annual London International Wine Fair preview activity last week. The daily diary pieces run from the start of May until the exhibition kicks off in just over two week's time. So, if you'd like your company's activities highlighted in the diary, email news@just-drinks.com now.

And, while you're at it, click here to attend our briefing on the UK wine market at this year's wine fair or, if you're not coming to London, head here to follow our briefing live online.

We had a fair few numbers hit the pages of just-drinks last week: As well as Beam Inc's Q1 results, Diageo gave us its year-so-far update. Anheuser-Busch InBev also released its Q1 figures last week.

On the soft drinks front, speculation linking Coca-Cola Co to a move for Monster Beverage Corp prompted the US giant to say it was not in talks with the energy drinks company. While many analysts felt such a move would make sense , it appears that, in this instance, the smoke isn't coming from an actual fire.

I'm not sure if I believe that either.

Until next time...
