Premium beer sector expected to see growth to 2015
According to just-drinks' recently published global market review of premium beer, the sector is expected to see global annual volume growth of 3.5% by 2015. Perhaps unsurprisingly, most of the volume increases will be generated in developing marketplaces such as Asia (China and India), Central (Latin) America and Eastern Europe (Russia).
The reason for this growth? Partly because over the reporting/forecasting period, premium beer has taken on a new, more aspirational image in many developing markets. It is seen as an upmarket and in some cases healthier (lower ABV) option to traditional regional alcoholic drinks (such as Tequila in Mexico or vodka in Eastern Europe).
