U.S. Drinks Conference 2009, Tues./Wed., Oct. 13 and 14 at the Helmsley Park Hotel, New York.
just-drinks will be embarking on a whistle-stop tour of Vinexpo this Wednesday (24 June) and Thursday. If you'd like us to drop by your stand, then drop us a line at news@just-drinks.com. On the news pages last week, Diageo found itself in the spotlight with a buyout of Stirrings, the premium cocktail mixer group, and also its plan to cut 107 jobs in Ireland. We also questioned analysts about speculation that Anheuser-Busch InBev is looking to dispose of assets in Eastern Europe. In the wine world, we found that online wine sales in the UK are continuing to grow strongly, despite the recession. A report on the growth in UK vineyard plantings also prompted us to question experts about the future of the UK wine industry. Sticking with wine, we reported last week that Foster's has received interest from Asia on its wine assets. In other snippets, William Grant & Sons has poached Bacardi's marketing director to be its new CEO, Coca-Cola has been cleared to acquire Leao Junior in Brazil and France has legalised internet adverts for alcohol. This week, meanwhile, sees the long-awaited relaunch of the just-drinks jobs site. To see if we can help you find the right (wo)man for the job, or if you're on the hunt for the job of your dreams (a worthwhile hunt, believe me), then click here. Until next time...
