Just in case you’ve not got round to booking a round-the-world business trip, taking in the best wine producing regions of France, Italy, Spain, Australia, Germany, the US, South Africa, Portugal, Chile, Argentina, New Zealand and roughly 25 other producing countries…. We’ll bring them to you, in London, and for three days.
Last week was a combination of the best of times and the worst of times here on just-drinks. Once the news came in (first thing on Monday morning) that Pernod Ricard had secured Vin & Sprit’s hand, it was all hands to the pump. Story after story after story flooded in – we were swamped, running at full pelt to keep up. And then, the head of Beam Global Spirits & Wine called… Despite the circumstances, Tom Flocco remained upbeat about the future for the company throughout our conversation. I’m due to sit down with him at the World Whiskies Conference in Scotland next week, so we’ll see how he feels about Beam’s prospects once the dust has settled. Apologies, meanwhile, to those of you who were looking forward to reading our interview with the head of PepsiCo International, which will now run in the next couple of days. Don’t blame me - blame the Swedes. Until next time... Olly Wehring, Managing Editor Web: www.just-drinks.com

But like much of the rest of the world, younger and better educated market segments within the region are shifting away from carbonated soft drinks (CSD) towards fruit juices and bottled water as people become increasingly health-conscious, according to independent industry analysts and the drinks sector. This month's briefing takes a look at the Middle Eastern beverage market, with chapters focusing on United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Israel.
